Stores in Atlanta - new to me

Luckily when I'm on business travel my day ends at 4 pm, giving me just enough time to fit in a design store or two before they close. This trip instead of going to my usual places, I visited 3 stores I'd never been to before. First up was a visit to Anthony|Wolfe in Buckhead. Love the wide fabric stripe on these upholstered chairs and the pairing of this warm, deep yellow with the earthy gray.
No, this is not an amazing giant door knocker but actually a disability grip bar! I wish I had taken a picture of the whole door because that would have given a better sense of how amazing this looked.

At Scout For The Home I really admired the curvy shape and narrow depth of these bedside tables. Isn't the finish nice too?
These paintings are by a local artist who uses coffee to create her works.

In my last post w/the picture of the amazing periwinkle nunnery doors, I mentioned Sherry of Design Indulgence gave me a heads up about Redefined in West Midtown, which is perfect as it's right on the way to the airport. The finish and look of this black screen is very classic.

Like many bookstores that feature "picks" from their staff, Redefined does the same with home decor. This great wood piece was a favorite of Tracy's.
Love this Derby winner but what really drew me in was scale and dimensions of this narrow console table.

I'll be back in Atlanta in August and should be able to spend a few hours at Scott's before flying home. Looking forward to that.

Breakfast in Bed

I think this image alone is worth picking up the June 11 issue of World of Interiors. If I'm remembering correctly, it's the home of Robin and Lucienne Day.

Exterior Eye Candy: Martha's Vineyard

I'm off to Atlanta for business this week although I plan to squeeze in as much design fun as I can after work. As usual, I have too many things to do before heading to the airport. Here's some eye candy from last year's visit to Martha's Vineyard. Makes me want to get a flag pole! (and an ocean view for a backyard too.)

Post Prom

This is where most of the rental tuxedo ended up after the prom, taken off as soon as possible, right by the front door. Ryan's only a junior but attended the Senior Prom because he's class president next year. I'm currently in denial that he is home for only one more year.

The chair was found on the side of the road a few months ago. This weekend I'll be repainting it and adding fabric to the seat. Underneath the tux it's green vinyl!

You may remember the paintings above. These two were purchased from Margaret Bostick of The Silk Purse, Inc. (to-the-trade 404.431.5422 and at Atlanta's Scott Antique Market) Originally from a set of 11 by an amatuer painter in Ghent, they're finally framed and Im really enjoying them.

Anticipation?

Patience has never been my strong suit. We have a huge patch of transplanted black raspberry bushes (not to be confused with blackberries) from upstate New York and I know I should wait until they're truly ripe before picking them. As my husband reminded me, I shouldn't pick the berry the very first day it turns black. Better to wait a bit...but, you know I popped this one into my mouth right after the click of the camera.

Staple Your Walls

Forget drawing on walls. DC designer Chad Alan added an interesting twist to the wallpaper in the bedroom he designed for the DC Design Center Dream Home 2011 by getting out the staple gun and creating a flowing pattern on the walls. My photos are a bit on the dark side so it doesn't quite do the look he created justice. I'm a fan. Have you ever seen this done before?

Fab Garden Benches

While looking for fence panels, I came across these amazing garden benches by O'Brien Ironworks. A to-the-trade firm, they create am amazing selection of metal furniture available in 15 standard and 200 custom finishes. Here are just a few of their garden benches. (Greek Key above)

Seashell Mirrors

There's something about a seashell mirror that's a bit magical. I lean towards more is definitely more when it comes to seashells. Has me wondering if I've collected enough over the years to get out the hot glue gun myself. Do you have a seashell mirror? Image above via Sally Lee by the Sea

I snapped a picture of these shell mirrors last year while visiting in Wynn Alex in San Francisco. Rather like the grouping of the small mirrors with the large one.
